Transcript: What Impact has FAME had on High school and Middle school Scholars The Pressures we face the problem: 20% of the FAME scholars have definitions of self-worth and/or self-esteem that don't seem to be right The Problem: Not believing in yourself The Problem: "trying to be something you will never be. White." I think it takes confidence in who you are. I think it takes confidence, believing in yourself, and knowing yourself It takes a girl who is confident within herself for all the right reasons. Pride, courage, education Not letting anyone be able to change you and being comfortable with yourself and your situations. I think experience helps make a strong women because experiences provide knowledge from past mistakes and accomplishments She must be smart, kind and have respect for herself. FAME gives me the chance to see other opportunities. Fame shows me how to remember whats important in life and my goals My point: This Survey shows FAME has an impact on all of our lives. From this I've noticed connection; that the more you are involved with FAME's programs the less you see "the problem". So what type of Impact does FAME have a great one, and if your a scholar who doesn't think this or doesn't understand I'd more than happy to talk to you because I use to think the same before doing this survey and finding out a lot about the scholars and myself in the process. What FAME event has had the most impact on you and why? This is a survey that was previously conducted this summer Delving into the "Problem" What do you believe it takes to be a strong young lady? Background about the Scholars Do you have any Female role models and if so who are they?

Transcript: My Survey Questions Carreon, Robert. "Rio Grande Valley." Teach For America. Teach for America, n.d. Web. 23 Oct. 2013. I first sent my survey via g-mail on Oct. 15. and checked my responses on Oct. 17 However, since my surveys were only conducted on students who are in high school and living in the RGV, then there is no real comparison. considering the threats of internal and external validity, If only the participants of the survey would also range to college students who already experienced the effect of their parent's income and that are NOT living in the RGV to make a better comparison of the education here. Age 16-17 Gender 9 F 6 M Ethnicity Mexican Am. City Brownsville Grandp. to par. Lower Edu. RGV to Edu. Limits edu. opp. Par. annual Income 30-90 thous. Par. $ to stu. edu.dependable on $ edu in Texas Lower than rest RGV & regions lower edu. values What are the consequences of parent's income on education attainment in the Rio Grande Valley? In this presentation, I'll survey my high school classmates to obtain a better understanding of if or not their parent's income may impact their future education. Money...it's also before education The Process Research Topic how old are you? gender? ethnicity? city where you live in? how did your grandparent's income affect your parent's education? How do you think the RGV's economy affect our education? What is your parent's annual income? How do you think your parent's income will affect your education? What have you heard about the education in Texas compared to other states? How are we any different than other regions? In my section of Types of Non experimental Research, I dealt with the topic of surveys. Surveys are a series of questions conducted to not change, but to describe a group of people. In this experiment, I conducted a survey to a certain group of people with questions of how their parent's income may affect their education. Discussion By: Jessica Cadena Works Cited According to Teach for America, the Rio Grande Valley is 13% lower that the rest on the states! As early as third grade, students in South Texas are are performing behind their peers across the states. I believe this has a lot to do with the student's parent's income. this research only responds the question on the opinion of the people. one limitation of this research is that it only focuses on the opinion rather that on FACTS one thing to change is to find statistics BASED on the opinion of people. based on the results of my research, I conclude that the government should provide the Rio Grande Valley with more money for schools and maybe give classes of moral values and educational goals. Research Expertise Methodology Part 1: Participants Importance n=15 age range=16-17 9 females and 6 males All of my participants live in the Rio Grande and they go to a public school; my participants are middle to high class, and they all live with their parents. My Common Survey Responses My Prominent responses
