Transcript: The hybrid flow process combines the dead-end and the cross-flow principle. As in the cross-flow filtration tubular membranes are with the filtration layer on the inside wall are used. With cross-flow filtration a constant turbulent flow along the membrane surface prevents the accumulation of matter on the membrane surface. The process is referred to as "cross-flow" because the feed flow and filtration flow direction have a 90 degrees angle. Thermal gravimetric analysis is a type of testing performed on samples that determines changes in weight in relation to change in temperature. TGA is commonly employed in research and testing to determine characteristics of materials such as polymers, to determine degradation temperatures. Ultrafiltration (UF) is the process of separating extremely small particles and dissolved molecules from fluids. The complete feed flow is forced through the membrane and the filtered matter is accumulated on the surface of the membrane. Bright future. Environment. Energy. Quality. Hybrid-flow Filtration The polymer: "what's Chitosan" ? chitosan is widely used in many different fields, including medicine, food and chemical . The TGA results provided quantitative information on the chitosan nanofibers functionalization. The TGA of chitosan revealed that the bulk and the electrospun nanofibers decomposed in a single step. However, the onset decomposition temperature for chitosan nanofibers was 220 C, while for chitosan bulk was 300 C. The data obtained with this study demonstrated significant differences in the thermal stabilities between the starting physical form (chitosan bulk) and the electrospun chitosan nanofibers. MEMBRANE

Transcript: MEMBRANE by Rija Amir The word 'membrane' in the Cambridge Dictionary is defined as "a thin piece of skin that covers or connects a part of a person's body." It is also defined as a thin pliable sheet of material forming a barrier or lining. Definition I have interpreted the word 'membrane' as a veil which, in turn, can be seen as a protector or even a separator. I choose to go with the idea of a protector due to the artists I have looked at as inspirations. Interpretation Antonio Corradini Antonio Corradini Corradini was an Italian Rococo sculptor who is best known for his illusory veiled depictions of the human body. His subjects were usually women and often allegorical. His most known piece is 'Modesty' which was created for the sculptural renovation of the Sansevero Chapel. Modesty is a marble sculpture of a veiled woman. It is said to not only be a technically inspired work, but the conceit of modesty shielded by the flimisest of veils is said to create an alluring but ironic tension. The veiled female figure embodies modesty but can also be considered a depiction of wisdom. It is often referred to as 'The Veiled Truth'. The symbols such as the cracked plaque are said to illustrate her life being cut too short. I am looking at Corradini's work for visual inspiration as there is something very visually pleasing about the pleats and crevises of the veil which subtly outline the statue's body. Modesty Louise Bourgeois Louise Bourgeois Bourgeois was a French-American artist best known for her large-scale sculptures and installations. One particular work of Bourgeois that has captured my attention is 'Spider' from her Cell series. The large, towering work hunched over a cage containing fragments of Bourgeois' childhood has an eerie, unsettling presence. The body is tightly wound, defensive almost. Bourgeois described the large spider as an ode to her mother, "She was my best friend. Like a spider, my mother was a weaver ... Like spiders, my mother was very clever." The spider showed women as protectors: strong, maternal and powerful which is a recurring theme in several of Bourgeois' sculptures. I plan on looking to Bourgeois for thematic inspiration, primarily motherhood and protectiveness. Spider I plan on taking Antonio Corradini's work forward as a main visual inspiration however, unlike Corradini, I will focus primarily on hands with acrylics as my primary medium. Bourgeois' pieces showcase motherhood, domestcity and protectiveness which is an intriguing topic as it often goes unappreciated. They also display distress alongside hidden emotion. I have considered using the hands of my mother and grandmother as references to add the element of a maternal figure. Besides are a few rough reference pictures I took. The hand hoisting the veil is to represent a mother covering her child to protect them. The gripping hand is also a sign of protection as mothers are often seen tightening their grips on their children when in an unsafe environment. I hope to discuss this with you in class to think of more ways to branch this idea out and properly develop it. Conclusion

Transcript: Outside cell THE END After it creates a vesicle then can realase it contants in to the cytoplasm this solution is a hypertonic solution because their is more sugar outside of the cell rather then the inside Hydrophopic Tail sticks its tail inside of the membrance because it dislikes water (non-polar) which means most of the non polar molecules will have a easier time getting through the lipid bilayer in totoal is liquidy because without it it would be hard to pass through Hydrophillic heads keep polar molecules outside becuase if theres toom uch water in the cell it could explode. Inside cell Cell Membrane Legend Red Water Grey sugar Carbohydrate chain the carbohydrate chain is like a atenna which sends transmissons to the nucleus stating whats outside of the cell. Carrier Protein: an integral protein which helps the bigger molecules that the cell needs to survive pass through using atp or energy this is required because the solute molecules are too big to pass through the bilayer and its usually for going down a concentration gradient. Channel proteins are the same thing as carrier protiens except the carrier protiens undergo shape change to allow molecules to pass using active transport the arrows show the which way the molecule is moving some cells cannot pass making the cell semi- permeable Phospholipid Bilayer Exocytosis is the oppisite of endocytosis.Particles are moved out of the cell. The Vesicle moves towards the cell membrane and then fuses with the cell and particles are realesed . this is phagocytosis (Endocytosis) the way the cell membrane eats is when its next too a molecule or solute it grabs out hands and closes it making a vesicle then shooting into the cell. then it reforms its shape. Exocytosis is the exact opposite
