Transcript: Rottweiler Characteristics The Rottweiler has a noble and self-assured expression. Its long, robust build and alertness allow it function as a guard dog, cattle herder, and various other tasks requiring agility, endurance, and strength. The Rottweiler is always black with rust to mahogany markings above each eye, on the cheeks, on the side of the muzzle, and on the legs. The dog's coat is also dense, straight, and coarse. Physical Temperament Rottweilers are powerful dogs with athletic, muscular bodies and large, broad heads. They are slightly longer than they are tall, with a level topline. The ears are pendant and triangular; the nose black and wide. The lips are also black, as is the inside of the mouth. The eyes are deep set, almond-shaped and dark brown. Teeth should meet in a scissors bite. The tail is customarily docked and dewclaws removed. The short, black coat is highlighted with clearly defined markings over the eyes, on the cheeks, chest, lower legs and under the tail. Mainly chosen for its ability to protect well, the Rottweiler is bold, confident and imposing, sometimes to its detriment. However, it can be shy, especially around strangers. Its ability to sense danger is very keen and if it perceives its human family is being threatened, it will become protective and may attack.

They are also used as search and rescue dogs. They are also one of the best guard dogs in the world. Rottweilers are also known as battle dogs. The Rottweiler breed is one of the oldest breeds in the world, it was used in the Roman Empire as War dogs, they charged against the enemy army and threw their troops in panic. At the end the Romans were the ones who first bred the breed. Rottweiler is a dog traditionally from Germany. It is normally used as a guard dog. Male Rottweilers are larger than females. They live 9 to 10 years. Its fur colour is black with some brown parts. Topic Head-the skull is medium length The nose is well developed Body-The back is straight, strong and firm. The loins are short, strong and deep. Before (sometimes even nowadays) we used to tie a rope around the Rottweiler's tail and after a few days the tail will fall off. Rottweilers are very loyal to their owners and families, if they sense something is wrong, they would bark to try and protect their family. Rottweilers are known as dangerous dogs, next to the Pitbull breed, but their temperament depends on how you educate them and the way you want them to be (guard dog, family dog... etc.) In an event widely reported by the media, a two-year-old UK Rottweiler named Jake owned by Liz Maxted-Bluck was recognised for his bravery by the RSPCA. The dog was out walking with his owner when they heard screams. Jake chased off a man as he molested a woman on Hearsall Common, Coventry, in July 2009. He located the attacker and his victim in thick scrub, chased off the attacker, led his owner to the scene, then stood guard over the victim until police arrived. The attacker was convicted of serious sexual assault and jailed for four years. Jake was nominated by police for the bravery award and medallion after the incident.
