Transcript: Lasted for over two years. The british army attempted to capture Baltimore and New Orleans but they were stopped by the U.S. The war of 1812 is one of the forgotten wars in America. It is said to be the second War of Independence. In the offensive actions the United States failed to capture Canada The US had fought Great Britain. one of the wars of 1812 was the battle of New Orleans This huge tragedy took place after the peace treaty ended the war. In the war three British generals, eight colonels were killed and 251 British soldier were killed too! The New Orleans war ended within an hour. Great Britain and the United States Signed the peace treaty on September 3,1783. 12 colonies voted for the declaration of independence. The colonies became free and became independent states. Americans were up against the largest empire in the world It was from 1775-1782 It was led by George Washington Mexicans refused to negotiate with the US for settlement 300 mexicans were killed. Also 300 mexicans were wounded. The Americans only lost one soldier. Only 5 Americans were wounded. The Americans used artillery on the mexicans. This is the Battle of New Orleans that happened on January 8. One American had escaped and went to New Orleans to warn Jackson. Transcript: memorial day Here is the regular memorial part. this part is the first and the last one, separated from the other parts by a wall, or maybe even in a different room. pictures and the regular matirial. you can place some candles, but please don't make it too much of a kitch to prevent cinnical respondes. it should still be respectfull. this is the time for creativity. we stay in the groups and each group make something together about the values they've spoken about in the discossion earlier. afterwards they present it to the other group(s) and continue to talk about it. this is the time and place for the "talkshow" (an act). so we need a place for the students to seet (can also be on the floor) and on the stage we need it to look like a talkshow inclooding a desk, 2 chairs, 2 cups of coffee, and a picture of some city behind this is the text we used bristols that they made into human shape, like in the picture on the right only with once body, and they had to write or paint the values that they decide in the group in the right place (mind, heart, hands that simbolize actions this character does, outside the body- that value is'nt his...etc) Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 now they look at an exhibition of people we choose, that we think dedicated their lives to the values they belived in. a short speach about the importance of values as guides in life and not only if you die. now we talk about what we've seen in small groups. the important part is to know what is important enought for them so they'll risk their lives for it.
