Transcript: Journeying through the Elements of Art Exploration, development and practice towards mastery Contour lines & shading Drawing detailed realism Contour and Shading We went deeper in technique in exploring perspective and observing details. Our artists took on quiet observations of anatomy, color, placement as well as finding consistencies and variances in landscape and figure drawing. We found a lot of inspiration in our Arizona quest, examining the plant and and animal life of our state. Perspective and Illusion Positive, Negative and 3 dimensional space Using Space The learners used specific techniques to create depth and dimension in their drawings. Through the use of negative and positive spaces they studied deeper into concepts of form as well as the beginnings of spacial design concepts. Balance and rhythm or direction and how those guide us in creating a composition, introduce learners to basic design elements. Practice in our landscape drawings helped to support these art elements. Implied and Realistic Texture Drawing to share information Value & Texture Our young artists reflected on what they want to say in their drawings. What do we want the viewer to know? How do we share information without words? Through the use of texture and value we learned that we can say so much about what we're sharing, how it feels and even reveal details of translucency, amount of light (what time of the day is it?) and even perspective. Exploring Portraiture styles Combining lessons of line, form, values and texture in portraiture Putting it all together During our virtual classes we were able to use our observational skills to learn more advanced skills in proportion, shading and rendering texture in portraits. We also explored different styles in realism (Kehinde Wiley, Amy Sherman, Frida Kahlo) and in animation and how even cartoonist's work is deeply rooted in the techinical aspects of facial anatomy and the physics of how light interacts with shape and form. As we continue to explore visual storytelling, we're beginning to use symbolism as part of creating more meaning in our work. Just for fun.... Joyful art explorations From mask design to one line drawing challenges and reimagining the ordinary still life, our young artists continue to find joy in their own imagination as they create!

Transcript: Final Modern Art Exhibition Task 1 Post-impressionism This art period is represented by a change in society to a focus in science and industry. Themes of nature and beauty were inspired by societal expectations and industrial waste. This art style covered a wide variety of messages and themes, and ave a more creative and free flow to art during this time. The Bay of Marseille by Paul Cezanne Task 2 Cubism This period of art is characterized by inspirations to convey deep emotions and further convey spirituality. This art style often aimed not to relate to other pieces of art, but create new messaging and themes. Line and color were often utilized to convey emotions. Girl with Mandolin by Pablo Picasso Task 3 De Stijl Style This art style is characterized by trying to break free of typical traditions in art to create things that are unique and new. Art was greatly involved in theory and rhythm, and included both architecture and painting. This style emphasized talent without reqauiring specific stylistic choices. Card Players by Theo Van Doesburg Task 4 Surrealism This art style is inspired by originality and the ability to engage in true feelings like fear and worries that the artit may have, and the may be perceived by the viewer. This began as a literary movement, then expanded as a visual movement to further convey what the artist wanted to communicate through images and messaging. This art style also involved exploring various theories. Carnival of Harlequin by Joan Miro Task 5 Abstract Expressionism This art style was greatly inspired by financial strain, war, lack of social response to art, violence, and modernism. This art style also included naturalism, which was a dominant style of painting at the time and helpe to convey natural and political messages. Woman I by Willem de Kooning Task 6 1960's Abstraction This style often felt the pressure to conform to modernism. This style of art was also characterized by experiments in design and openness to new compisitions. This style encouraged artists to also try new techniques in their art. The person who is running the game will have to have all of the answers in order to determine if players are correct or not. However, with a game like Who Wants to be a Millionaire, the players only have a choice between answers, A, B, C, or D. Therefore, when the player decides their answer, the person running the game clicks it, and the game will tell them whether they are right or wrong.
