Initially a marketing term for a bundled set of applications Selecting, Adding & Deleting slides To add a slide, click on the “New Slide” icon in Home tab. To work on a slide, go to the slide column (left side of screen)-click on it. To delete a slide- go to slide column- click on it- press “Backspace” butto Home Tab- slide layouts To shrink/enlarge text box borders- click on a “sizing handle” and drag. You can click on the Layout tool (next to New Slide) to change to another type of slide layout. Different layouts give room for pics, charts, tables. Shortcuts and Right-clicking Ctrl-Z to undo changes, Ctrl-Y to redo changes. Notes page: contain a miniature image of each slide plus any speaker notes you added in the Notes pane as well as any header and footer information. Handouts: printable sheets for the audience to take notes on during your presentation. PowerPoint is a presentation authoring program Slide Show view: used to preview a presentation as your audience will see it. Slides Tab and Outline Tab: show slide thumbnails and text-only hierarchial versions of the slides, respectively. PowerPoint allows you to create dynamic slides, which are onscreen pages for use in a slide show. Notes pane: at the botton of the window that is used to input text relevent to a specific slide; you can use these notes as a partof your audience handout or as reference notes during your presentation. Viewing a Presentation Printing Handouts Outline: contains th text of your presentation, similar to outline view. Creating Smart Art Smart Art: Visually rich and professional -looking diagrams Title Slide: The first slide in a new presentation that contains two place holders (a title and subtitle place holder). Object: Once you fill in a place holder of any type--text, table, graphics, or any comination thereof-- the placeholder becomes and editable object. Entering Text on a Slide Slide Sorter view: uses the entire window to show thumbails of the presentation slides and is very useful for reordering and deleting slides.
