Transcript: Making the Most of your Educational Journey Classroom Discipline, Illness and Attendance Reach the Top!!! Why send kids to school? My classroom model is based upon maturity and freedoms. Do what is right for you at appropriate times; sharpen pencil, use restroom, etc. As a reward for a week of hard work, we have Cocoa Fridays. I supply the cocoa and the kids bring in a mug. Simple rule: No mug, No cocoa. It is also my way of cushioning the blow of taking a bunch of assessments on Friday.  Classroom Framework Matthew Charles Powers Goodrich High School Michigan State University, BA Olivet College, MA Married to Shannon Powers Daughters: Chloe and Kate Dog:Vincent I try to deal with situations in the classroom. I will phone / text / email as necessary. I will defer to Mrs. Stewart as needed. Usually, this is not an issue of concern. Attendance- Please send them to school. There is a stream of dialogue and connections made throughout the school day. Conversely, the reality of missing a day and making up work is 10 to 15 minutes of review with student as opposed to 6 hours. I put your children in a situation to succeed. Ultimately, they are the ones that have to perform. Earn a weekly salary Apply for government jobs Savings and loans with the bank Auctions Desk mortgage Sports, socializing, break, etc. True reason is to be educated. Assessing / Grading The current trend is moving towards final performance – Mastery There will be very little homework on a daily basis. So, when something does come home, please make sure that it gets done. We will have a weekly Reading Log. Please have your child fill it out daily. Take Care of Your Body and Brain Independence Who is this guy? 3rd Grade Learn, Learn, and Learn some more!!! Think of yourself, do you feel like working when you are hungry, have a dehydration headache, or exhausted? Snack Time - Healthy Water bottle – Body and brain are a high percentage water. Rest – I showed my students a video of people performing simple tasks after being deprived of sleep. It is crucial to treat your body properly. School is much more difficult and demanding than when I went through.

Great with students, workers, family, etc. For example: With games like Jeopardy and Family Feud, players can pick practically any answers. The person who is running the game will have to have all of the answers in order to determine if players are correct or not. However, with a game like Who Wants to be a Millionaire, the players only have a choice between answers, A, B, C, or D. Therefore, when the player decides their answer, the person running the game clicks it, and the game will tell them whether they are right or wrong.
