Transcript: Constitution Articles 2,3,4 The power of the president is to enforce the laws passed by congress. The president and vice president can serve four year terms and that is backed up by the 22nd Amendment. The Philadelphia convetion ran into trouble on how to choose the president but they finally agreed upon an indirect election by "electors" chosen for the purpose. The president and vice president are elected by presidential electors from each state. In 1800 the top two candidates recieved the same number of votes which lead to the decision of the house of representatives. To prebent this situation from happening again the 12th Amendment was added in 1804. congress selects the date for the presidential electors are chosen and when they vote president and vic president. The president must be at least 35 and a resident for 14 years. If the president dies, he is removed by an impeachment and the vice president becomes president. The salary was $25,000 but now its $200,000 plus a $50,000 taxable expense account per year. All presidents elected have been sworn into office by the Cheif Justice The only three vice presidents that were not sworn into office by the Cheif Justice were John Tyler, Calvin Coolidge, and Lyndon Johnson. The only person allowed to appoint the cabinet is the president but they have to be confirmed by the senate. The president is the Cheif of architect of American foreign Policy. How all treaties must be approved by two-thirds of the senators present. The president has the power to appoint officials to fill vancancies when the senate is not in session. The president has the power to ask a foreign country to withdraw its diplomatic official. This is called "breaking diplomatic relations." it also carries with it the implied threat of war. The president has the pwoer of deciding weather or not to recohnize foreign governments. This means that you will always have an experienced President and Vice President because they have to be a resident for 14 years and if they weren't then they could be President. Also it helps because he doesn't have to recognize the foreign goverments if he doesn't want to and that helps because they could be a bad government. The judicial power of the United States, shall be vested into on supreme court and in such inferior courts as the Congress may from time to time ordain and establish. The judges, both of supreme and inferior courts, shall hold their office during good behaviour, and shall, at stated times, receive for their services, a compensation, which shall not be deminished during their continuence in office. This means that all judges of any court in the United States, will rule under the Supreme Courts power. The judges can serve until they break good behavior, and will be payed for their services and their pay cannot be decreased. The judicial power shall extend to all cases, in law and equity, arising under this Constitution, the laws of the United States, and treaties made, or which shall be made, under their authority;--to all cases affecting ambassadors, other public ministers and consuls;--to all cases of admiralty and maritime jurisdiction;--to controversies to which the United States shall be a party;--to controversies between two or more states;--between a state and citizens of another state;--between citizens of different states;--between citizens of the same state claiming lands under grants of different states, and between a state, or the citizens thereof, and foreign states, citizens or subjects. In all cases affecting ambassadors, other public ministers and consuls, and those in which a state shall be party, the Supreme Court shall have original jurisdiction. In all the other cases before mentioned, the Supreme Court shall have appellate jurisdiction, both as to law and fact, with such exceptions, and under such regulations as the Congress shall make. The trial of all crimes, except in cases of impeachment, shall be by jury; and such trial shall be held in the state where the said crimes shall have been committed; but when not committed within any state, the trial shall be at such place or places as the Congress may by law have directed. A namespace is a declarative region that provides a scope to the identifiers (names of the types, function, variables etc) inside it. Multiple namespace blocks with the same name are allowed. Templates Templates Templates are powerful features of C++ which allows you to write generic programs. In simple terms, you can create a single function or a class to work with different data types using templates. Advantages: Readability Flexibility Re-usability Function Template FUnction Templates A single function template can work with different data types at once but, a single normal function can only work with one set of data types. Normally, if you need to perform identical operations on two or more types of data, you use function overloading. However, a better approach would be to use function templates because you can perform the same task writing less and maintainable code. Example Sometimes, you need a class implementation that is same for all classes, only the data types used are different. Normally, you would need to create a different class for each data type OR create different member variables and functions within a single class. This will unnecessarily bloat your code base and will be hard to maintain, as a change is one class/function should be performed on all classes/functions. Class Template Class Templates Example virtual functions virtual functions Virtual functions ensure that the correct function is called for an object, regardless of the type of reference (or pointer) used for function call. They are mainly used to achieve Run-time polymorphism. The prototype of virtual functions should be same in base as well as derived class. They are always defined in base class and overridden in derived class. It is not mandatory for derived class to override Example Pass by reference Pass-by-reference means to pass the reference of an argument in the calling function to the corresponding formal parameter of the called function. The called function can modify the value of the argument by using its reference passed in. Does not copy the arguments. The formal parameter is an alias for the argument. References cannot be NULL.
