Transcript: Identify unnecessary items and eliminate them from the workplace. Materials, tools, equipment and supplies that are not frequently used should be moved to a common storage area. As you clean, classify each item found by the type of object to make sorting easier. If ownership is not immediately obvious, ask questions to determine where the item belongs. If ownership cannot be determined, the item will need to be "Red Tagged". Organize things in a logical storage location that makes commonly used tools and materials convenient and easy to access. Clearly mark or color code storage areas with signs or labels. Classifying A place for everything, and everything in its place, properly identified and labeled. Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Seiketsu, Shitsuke Recycling/Reassignment Cleaning Set in order Items not claimed after a specified period of time should be disposed of, or if the item is still useful it can be reassigned. Once items are tagged they should be placed in an area that allows potential owners to examine them and determine what should be done with them.
